Summer 2013 Fashion Trend: MONOCHROME

let's talk about

M O N O C H R O M E

This classic look has become one of the biggest fashion trends of 2013.

I must admit that I was initially confused by the concept of monochrome in the fashion sense.
See, monochrome, in the literal sense of the word has two meanings, which are as follows:

1) A range of Tones or Shades of a Single Colour

&

2) A Black and White Image

So on the one hand we have one colour, any colour, but in different shades. Makes you think of 50 Shades of Grey... Then, on the other hand, we have only black and white.

So my question was, which of these two definitions were we talking about?

At first, during my research on 2013|14's Spring and Summer fashion trends, I thought it was number 1.
And some of the trend reports actually portrayed it as that, along with pictures from the runways. 

I was aware that 'Black & White' was also a trend and listed it as that in my 2013 Spring & Summer fashion trends post.

It has now become apparent that the Monochrome trend that has become so popular,
is the Black & White trend. 

However, the reports depicting it as being the single colour in different shades, was not entirely wrong as that is in fact also a trend. It's just that the classic black and white took more to the hearts of the fashionista's.

So there we have it. More than likely, when someone talks about

MONOCHROME ,

they're talking about

 BLACK AND WHITE

geometric shapes / designs and stripes are popular with this trend.
