Autumn (fall) & Winter Fashion Trends 2013 | 14

So here we are again. Season-changing time. Unbelievable if you ask me. But alas, what can we do about it. Time is flying by and we just have to keep up. So here's what you need to stay on trend this Autumn (fall) and Winter!

TARTAN | PLAID | CHECK print

Good thing these prints have been around many a season, for it is something most girls already have in their wardrobes. Even if it IS buried away. Get digging. These prints were seen in Saint Laurent, Mulberry, Givenchy and Versace ( to name a few ) collections on the runway. So you know they're going to be big!

PUNK

Yes, we are talking patent leather, spikes, suits with nothing on underneath, gauzy chiffon and whatever else will make you look like a punk!

Haider Ackermann

OVERSIZED COATS | OUTERWEAR

And we literally mean OVERsized. We talking STATEMENT. Making a statement. You definitely should not go by anyone unnoticed.

Peter Pilotto

I personally loved this one by Valentino

PINK

So who doesn't love the color pink? Some, I suppose. But most do! And the latter will be delighted to know that Pink is the new Black for this season. Or rather, the new Burgandy or Ox blood, which was last Fall/Winter's hottest color.

But we are not just talking any pink. We are talking dusty rose or berry pink.

Here we have 2 trends in 1. Pink and Oversized!

Roksanda Ilincic

Carven

Love this from Marc Jacobs

Menswear Style

When we think of this style, we immediately tend to think of pants suits. But suits are just one of many ways to pull off this trend. It is the tailoring that plays the biggest part here. Anything that has sharp tailoring and a good cut, will probably MAKE the cut. Add feminine touches with your shoes and handbag.

CHURCH & SLATE | PIOUS

This is one you may raise an eyebrow to since it is associated with religion. Specifically Christianity. The style mainly reminds one of a nun's attire. It can be tricky since you wouldn't want to look like a nun yourself, so the designers showed us how to do it. We saw prim and structured detailing for a modern twist, as well as actual crosses around the neck.

Dolce & Gabbana

GATSBY

Inspired by the fashion in the 2013 Screen version of the classic tale of The Great Gatsby.

Emporio Armani

TURTLE NECKS

While many may not be a fan of a turtle neck, it is actually quite the classic piece since it adds elegance and chic to any look. Just take a look at how Audrey Hepburn use to rock them. And of course it keeps you warm all the up to your chin!

LEOPARD PRINT

Yes, it's back! So soon? Well, it never really went away. It was just not in the spotlight last fall/winter. But since it certainly WAS not so long ago, there must be a leopard print item (or two, or three, or several) in your wardrobe. Don't you just love it when trends recur? Well this one did, all over the runways!

EMERALD GREEN

Quite contrary to the pink discussed above, this colour is more earthy and reminds one of the character of Poison Ivy in the Batman series. There is something very sensual and sophisticated about it. It is a beautiful jewel tone and was named Pantone's colour of the year.

And there you have it! The biggest trends of fall and winter 2013|14!

Remember that these are just guidelines and you do not have to feel pressurized to stick to it stringently. Wear what you love and makes you feel comfortable! There are also many ways to incorporate trends in very small and subtle ways, by accessories for example.

Have a wonderful fall and winter.
Stay warm.

xoxo
Angel
